As a parent of an athlete, I can’t put into words the absolutely wonderful impact that ASNW has had on my daughter. Seeing the joy and passion that she has when she is playing competitive power soccer brings such happiness and healing to me. When she was first diagnosed, I was devastated and overwhelmed… with the support of ANSW to let her have these experiences, I have been healing from my own trauma and get to see my kid be all that she can be.

Playing power soccer for ASNW has allowed me to connect with other athletes with disabilities in a way that I never had the opportunity to do so before.

Adaptive Sports are not only a great way to stay physically healthy, but it also brings you into a social family with persons that understand what you’re going through in life.

I love inviting my friends and family to come watch me, so they can see that having a disability doesn’t mean that you can’t play sports and be active. It just means doing it in a slightly different way.

I like wheelchair basketball because I like to push myself physically. It gives me a fun way to work out and I love that I have a sport that I can play.

Adaptive Sports Northwest has been a life saver for me. Being able to participate in sports among others with various disabilities creates a fun, engaging family to compete with and makes me feel like a part of something bigger. Without ASNW, I wouldn’t have been able to play these sports in the same fashion, or meet all of the amazing staff and athletes.

All abilities are welcome, everyone can find a way to move their body!

ASNW has helped our son gain a greater appreciation for sports. He has enjoyed growing as an athlete in swimming and track & field. When he practices with ASNW he receives encouragement and not judgement. Thank you ASNW for unleashing an athlete!

ASNW programming enables our daughter to have a swim team where she is just a regular youth athlete practicing and improving her skills with her peers. It’s that time each week where she gets to have fun and celebrate her own accomplishments.  The youth swim team is more than just a group of swimmers, it is a group of lifelong friends and exceptional mentors that grow together and impact each other’s lives.

My son is affected by cerebral palsy which significantly affects his mobility. Despite this, he is a sports kid. He loves to watch sports, to read about sports; but most importantly, he loves to participate in sports. […] Through ASNW, my son was introduced to Wheelchair Basketball. This has become his passion. He lives and breathes it; he talks about it constantly. Wheelchair basketball is his community where he has formed friendships and gained self-confidence. ASNW has been key to bringing this to our son and my family.
