Get In the Game Annual Fundraiser
A community-building and fundraiser event
by and for Adapted Athletes
Our 2024 event is scheduled for Saturday, May 4th. Save the date!
Take part in an evening that will celebrate the power of sport, community, and the impact of adaptive athletics and recreation on the lives of individuals with physical disabilities and visual impairments. Please plan to join us at Mittleman Jewish Community Center on Saturday, May 4th for sports demos, community building, food, games, and fundraising.
The night’s program starts off in the gym at 4:30pm with live sport demonstrations by the Rose City Renegades Power Soccer team, and the Wheel Blazers wheelchair basketball team. Next Attendees will have the opportunity to Get in the Game by playing sit volleyball, adaptive pickleball and goalball. Feel free to join the Adaptive Sports Northwest youth Piranhas Paraswim Club in their pool side lounge for a chat about all things swimming. Then make your way to our track and cycling athletes showcasing the large array of equipment and sports chairs. Have you ever wondered what it’s like to sit in a track chair or a sport chair? Well this is your chance. Make sure to wear sneakers and comfortable shoes so you don’t miss your chance to Get in the Game.
After all the excitement in the gym, the festivities continue into the ballroom with snacks and socializing at 6:00pm. Dinner and a short program including words from Executive Director and 7-time Paralympian Jen Armbruster will begin at 6:30pm. Our MC for the evening is legendary sportscaster Ann Schatz — the first female reporter for the Trail Blazers and the first voice for the Portland Thorns — who has covered sports across major sports networks from CBS to ESPN and beyond. Attendees can bid on an awesome auction package, Raise Your Paddle for a special cause, or try their luck with a variety of games, all while enjoying delicious food and learning about Adaptive Sports Northwest.
Your support (in the form of donations, game plays, or auction winnings) helps purchase adapted equipment, practice facilities, trained coaches and provides an inclusive peer network for children and adults to enhance their lives. As one of our resilient athletes says, “I am very thankful for this organization. Everyone involved is creating life-changing opportunities in a rapidly growing community of people that are all too often overlooked.“
Our Program will also be shared via Facebook for those who cannot attend in person. Be sure to follow our Facebook page for a reminder when the event is about to start Live.
Thanks for all of the support! Ticket sales are now closed.
