Adaptive Kayaking
Adaptive kayaking provides health and healing for individuals with physical disabilities and visual impairments. Skills are taught through a step-by-step approach beginning in the pool and progressing to open water.
In partnership with Team River Runner and eNRG Kayaking, ASNW’s kayaking program runs year-round. During the summer months, kayaking sessions offered by eNRG Kayaking are held on the Willamette River twice a month. In the winter, once a month, introductory and intermediate instruction sessions are in the pool.
Members and veterans are taught basic paddling, kayak rolls, rescue skills, bracing, wet exits, and more in a pool (winter time) with ACA Certified Instructors and volunteers before getting out on the open waters (summer and fall).
